FAQ'S ABOUT THE GOALS VERTICAL CHALLENGE
1. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
ABSOLUTELY ANYONE who wants more kids to spend time on wild rivers. This is a fun ski-a-thon designed to raise money and awareness for GOALS, intentionally built around a community-oriented and family-friendly outdoor activity. People of all ages and skiing/snowboarding ability levels are encouraged to get involved!
2. SO, IT ISN'T REALLY A COMPETITION?
Not really. Every participant will be competing for prizes based on how much money they raise - but the event is more focused on working together toward a common goal than it is on creating competition. In the end, you're really competing with yourself to see just how much good you can do for kids in future GOALS river programs!
3. how much does it cost?
It shouldn't cost a single cent. The only possible cost is one-day lift ticket at Winter Park for those without a season pass. Raise at least $250, and we'll cover that cost if you don't already have one. Raise less than $250, and we'll still hook you up with a discounted rate of just $50 (ticket window price is $149).
4. DID I HEAR SOMETHING ABOUT A TEAM COMPETITION?
You did. While may of Vertical Challenge athletes register as individuals and competing against themselves to see how many pledges they can gather and how many feet they can ski, others prefer to build teams. This year, the "Lucky 7 Challenge" celebrates our 7th annual event, and gives the 2 most successful fundraising teams an opportunity to live the GOALS experience on an overnight Westwater Canyon expedition!
5. i love this idea, but can't be in winter park on April 8th. What can i do?
You can't make it to Colorado for the Vertical Challenge, but you have friends who'd like to support a charity you believe in. We've got young GOALS graduates who'd love to ski in the Vertical Challenge, but don't have much of a network to ask for pledges of their own.
When we connect you two, it's a real win-win. You create a fundraising page - even though you can't personally ski. You're asking friends to support GOALS by pledging a GOALS graduate who's excited to ski for you, thereby helping more kids can experience the same growth they did on a river expedition!
