GOALS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to connect, inspire, and empower young people through wilderness river expeditions.  Using a curriculum designed by professional educators and wilderness river guides that combines adventure, curiosity, and fun, GOALS expeditions build connections between our participants and their peers, the planet, and themselves.

The wilderness canyons where GOALS programs occur are important, but they’re just one piece of the puzzle.  Once there, we add some challenging whitewater that the group must courageously navigate.  We encourage creative play and imaginative discovery.  We take people to a place where electronic distractions don't exist, and where there's no time, energy, or desire to look, act, or behave in any manner that isn't authentic.  Sure - every GOALS program develops new outdoor skill sets and provides academic enrichment opportunities, but they do so much more.  They foster personal awareness and build self-confidence.  They encourage kids to push past perceived limits, to trust and support one another, and to recognize the individual growth and group camaraderie that develop between theput-in and the take-out ramps.

Our graduates leave with more than just photographs and memories from some of the most revered river canyons in North America.  They feel a greater sense of pride and empowerment than they did when entering - eager to make the same positive impacts on the people and places around them that the canyon has made on them.  At GOALS, we call this "over-existing".  We're proud to make kids aware that it's possible, and enjoy watching them lead by example as they share the idea with others.
